Griffin Media Announces “Remembering Toby Keith”
The one-hour special features an unabridged, sit-down interview with the musician
Oklahoma City, Okla. – Robin Marsh and the News 9 team look back at the life, legacy and impact of one of Oklahoma’s native sons. “Remembering Toby Keith” will air Wednesday, February 21st at 7 p.m. Sponsored by Oklahoma Proton Center, the special will air commercial-free for one-hour.
The country music world lost a legend earlier this month. Toby Keith was a force in the realm for decades, but he was known locally for his down-to-earth demeanor and revered by Oklahomans for his generosity and wit.
“We hope by presenting Toby Keith’s perspective on life and faith, in his own words, that it will inspire others who are battling cancer or other life-threatening illnesses,” said News 9 Director of Content Nathan Elliott. “Toby encouraged millions of fans by how he lived and the lyrics he sang, and his legacy lives on.”
“When I interviewed country music icon Toby Keith right after Thanksgiving, I never thought it would be the last television interview he would ever give,” News 9 anchor Robin Marsh said.
“Remembering Toby Keith” will include much of that interview raw and unedited, as Keith went in-depth about his career, music, family and faith during times of darkness.
“Remembering Toby Keith” airs on News 9 and News On 6 on Wednesday, Feb. 21st from 7-8 p.m. It will also be carried by radio station Big Country 99.5 FM. Viewers can stream the special on the News 9 and News On 6 OTT apps as well.
